According to the three articles I read about the music industry and the effects that digital media has on it I would say that all these company’s that offer digital media are all in competition with Apple. Apple is a hegemony, that wants to collaborate with smaller company’s to make Apple more powerful. Traditional ways of obtaining music are becoming obsolete. IPods, mp3 players, and cd’s are a thing of the past. Now it’s all about streaming music off your phone and downloading music Apps. that you pay for. It’s all about convenience and on the go. Apple has so many products to offer when it comes to the content delivery system. Apple has it own music app that’s already downloaded for you in your phone when you get it. Apple just brought the headphone for 2 billion dollars from Dr. Dre to provide that latest and best quality headphone for it users. But people also gravitate to the less expensive service that do the same thing and apple services are 10.00 a month. spotify another music downloading service gives you a longer free trial in hopes that you become hooked. Me personally I have and IPhone and the beats by apple and I must say I refuse to pay for music. I have a free app on my IPhone (Spinrilla) that allows me to download the newest Hip Hop & R&B absolutely free of charge. However just like the library’s, which allow people to take the book out for free, the authors and artist gets cheated out of money that they should be making. Jay-Z got tired of the unjust treatment toward hard working artist and decides to buy Tidal a music streaming company for $54 million dollars to allow artist to have more control over their music. According to article number two, music artist are treated the worst when it comes to being compensated for their work.
