It is so easy to become a part of the Internet in this advance world that we live in. kids no longer play outside and hang out with their friends. Instead they are on the computers interacting on online platforms that allow you to interact with people you know and people you don’t know at the click of a button from the comfort of your own home. Is it safe? Is the unknown safe? In my opinion the Internet is a very dangerous place and the scariest part of it all is that sometimes you have no idea who you are interacting with on these social media platforms because the security precautions are not advance for our times. I remember being in middle school lying about my age on MySpace and so did everyone else my age that was on the site. Before that we had Sconex, which made you verify your high school but you could lie about that as well. What if there was a social media site that stood by its security precautions to verify that everyone participating on the site is actually who they claim to be. Would you feel safer? I think so. No more “Catfishing” as the term has been coined for those who impersonate someone else on the Internet and interact with others pretending to be the person they are impersonating. I myself have been “Catfished” and it was not a great experience. I was young and naive and MySpace did not help with its lackadaisical security precautions.
Actualu.com is the site you need. It is a free site! It is directed at keeping all of its participants safe and far away from misconceptions through social media. Our security system is very advance because it uses facial recognition to ensure accuracy. When logging into any device to access your account you must use facial recognition. While some may say this excessive and not everyone have access to a camera but it is 2016 and many phones come with cameras as well as computers so it will not be difficult. The facial recognition system will not only be scanning who your face it will be searching the internet for other profiles with your face and will compare names and information found on those sites to collaborate with the information you have provided to ensure you are who you claim to be. This is sort of like the “faces” software used by apple to group your pictures together in your photo albums. This advance security system will let you know if there are other pages on other social media platforms that are claiming to be you and will give you the links to the pages. If you have used a credit card scanner through an app when purchasing something on your phone you will be doing the same thing with your phone just pointed at your face.
The interface of my site will be slightly similar to other social media platforms. The users will have more control over the design of the way that their profiles are seen by the public and how they themselves see it. It is important that we allow for individuality and creativity especially on a website that is geared towards people knowing the real you. The Cliché “about me” will no longer be a need. The page itself will be all you want to share and offer to those who follow you. To ensure privacy those who are not signed up for the site will have no access to the website not even by searching your name. One must be signed up in order to search people and or see their profile. You will feel as if you are VIP while on the site because we only offer the best services. Some services we will offer are personalization where you can speak with a representative to design your page if you are not Internet savvy. This will be at no additional charge. Also we will allow for free promotion among your friends and their friends at no charge to you. It will have to be a legitimate business and documents will have to be sent in to ensure you are legitimate. We want to encourage people all over the United States and every other country we break into, to understand that there is no need to worry about safety while suing our sight. It is a place to not only have fun but to do business without being conned. No other social media platform is offering the services we are without some type of fee.
My target audience would be 18+ because of the maturity required for the app and the knowledge of personal information. I would like making sure all participants is legal. The website will have an option to allow verification for younger individuals (15 being the youngest age to join) but their legal guardian must verify on their behalf and must also have a page o their own. They will monitor the page as well until the user turns 18 and then their page will be released from the parental controls. This allows for family’s to join a platform that is safe. This is an advance platform that will allow for many professional individuals to interact without using a site like LinkedIn that is geared only towards finding a job and connecting with employers. I will focus on college students first because I myself am one and just like mark Zuckeberg the best target audience is the one you are surrounded by. I will exploit my peers as guinea pigs to see if they enjoy a site that will offer them protection from catfishes.
People will want to join because everyone in America is afraid of something and identity fraud is at the top of the list for most. We all hate having our credit cards used in country’s we’ve never been too or finding accounts online pretending to be someone we know or even ourselves. Safety is Americas number one concern right now and they would want to join out of being scared of hackers especially after speculation that Russia has taken part in messing with our past election. When I think of a place that I enjoy sharing on and how unsafe it is I think of twitter. With a website that allows that live tweeting aspect with a format of Facebook and accessibility like Instagram users will be amazed and compelled to join. This site will also be undetected by the police and employers because you will have to have an account to find those you are looking for. This allows freedom of speech without being targeted and having to worry about if your employer will see your post about how much you hate working in groups with incompetent adults.
My product stands out from others because there are no other social media sites that will have the same security precautions, multiple interface, creativity, and privacy. We will use facial recognition through the camera on your device, which will insure you are when you sign in. Like other sites you will only have to do it once and there will be an option to remember it. Device verification will also be needed when signed in from different devices. ActualU.com Is not a place for everyone, there will be no discrimination but violence in any form will not be tolerated and will be taken down. Also reporting people’s pages will be easier than ever. You will have the option to write up people who are misusing the platform and our team will review your concern and reach out to the person letting them know of our findings and how we will proceed. Once you are kicked off of the platform you will not be able to join again, we will uphold our values to ensure a respectable platform. The amount of people that decide to join will be my gauge on whether the site is a win or not. Also getting investors like YouTube, Bitmoji, and Google would be very important to our success.
In creating ActualU.com I wanted to make a safe environment where people can be themselves and be protected from trolls and impersonators who only make our lives difficult. A website like this would force people to be themselves and nothing else. It is so easy to be someone you are not on the Internet because no one knows who is sitting behind the computer screen or phone. The site will be a success and everyone will join off of the fact that they can have a positive place to express their true self without being judged, that is what ActualU.com is all about. I once felt that way about Tumblr before it became about popularity and reposts. I want to create a place where creative people can be free to create and share without being bashed for their art. I designed this site to be somewhere would want to log on to.
