How is Digital Media changing the music industry?
I think digital media is changing the music industry both positive and negative way. Before there was internet i remember we had to go out and buy CD’s at the store if we wanted to listen to the music of our favorite artist, i remember only liking a couple of songs from that album and still had t pay the full amount for the those couple songs which was about $15 each CD, Now that we have all these streaming services we get to chose what we listen to.I use Apple streaming services to listen t my music for like $20, i think its awesome because i save to my library my favorite artist, i get to listen to songs that i listened to when i was in junior high which is cool. With Digital Media listeners become more open to different genre of music before you’d be stuck into listening to just on genre but with the changes that music industry has taken it also made us the listeners more open to listening to rock, salsa, pop, electric and many more. i can barely think of any negatives for the listeners just the monthly fee we have t pay which i don’t mind because i am a music lover. On the other Hand on the article ” Music Streaming Demands New Wave of licensing Rules”, they talk about how unfair the music industry is to writers. One example they used was Avicii hit song “wake me up” which had more than 168 million views on pandora and how each songwriter were payed, which was completely unfair to them. it also talks about the new laws the industry has made to try and make everything fair for all. These are things the listeners don’t get to see the behind the scene, i think to many streaming services are out there to be treating them unfair, the more streaming the more money.
