Having learned about drones years ago, this was an interesting expansion on my knowledge of them. One article mentioned that drones came about in the mid-20th century. There are four types of drones: three military level types and one regular type known as hobbyist drones. They started as a military technology and are still prominent today. However, as of a few years ago, using drones as a hobby has had a large increase. Sales have skyrocketed into the hundred-millions. Drones are supposed to be used to help see things that usually cannot be seen. They have been used in military missions and to combat terrorism and crime. As stated in the first article, drones are subject to some vulnerabilities. People can easily hack into drones and keep them for themselves. It isn’t yet illegal for hobbyist drones to spy on regular people for amusement. It is a huge invasion of privacy for some people who may not even know they’re being watched. As far as their original purpose of being military aids, drones have helped save lives and be a third eye for service men and women. Hobbyist drones need to be regulated better. They grew in popularity because the idea of being able to have a drone to play with in your spare time is a fun idea, but once they get hacked, thousands of dollars go to waste.

How does marketing shift in the digital world?
Marketing made a complete shift when the digital world became a major player in this world’s economy. We went from print media and print advertisements to digital media and digital marketing. By digital marketing I mean any marketing through a digital medium. We now have advertisements in games like “words with friends” and even on our social media timelines like on Instagram and Snapchat. It is much easier to market your product and even yourself through social media because they over different packages that will promote your post to a certain amount of people if you are trying to reach a broader audience other than your own followers. In the article “Why the Future of Digital Marketing Is Pure PR” Gerald states “Live-tweeting and sharing goings-on from relevant networking events, industry conferences, and speaking opportunities should be your bread and butter approach to raising your profile within your community, as well as helping you look like you’ve got your finger on the pulse of your sector.” I agree that social media is a big part of marketing and is the worlds first go to when in need to find out more about a product. This is all is if you are doing it the correct way, many people may know about your product or you but are hey really buying it. Social media is almost word of mouth, if people like it they will write reviews and share with their friends and even tag your business which will lead people to your page and or website.

THE TIME OF DRONES
Drones were initially used by the military, which they were known as unmanned Aerial Vehicles when it was predicted too dangerous to travel; in order to keep a 24 hour “eye in the sky”. Recently, drones were introduced to the commercial market and are being used in many ways for different reasons. Such as; airborne aid to transport lifesaving goods in rural areas, Sending encrypted messages, guiding college students through campus, delivering food, aid police in search and rescue, enhance farming efficiency, media and broadcasting etc. According to the article by Culture Machine ” DRONE IT YOURSELF! ON THE DECENTRING ‘DRONE STORIES’ ” drones are widely perceived as complex technical systems employing professional infrastructures, cutting-edge engineering knowledge and vast financial resources. When its not so, drones can be used by anyone interested in enhancing the quality of their work.

How are drones influencing commerce and surveillance in the media?
The influence of drones nowadays is real and we can see it all around us.
Several countries all around the world use it as a tool for war (military use) and in the media when you see some aerial view from a documentary it is most of the time thanks to a drone. It also used in film production by film companies.
Basically the biggest advantage of a drone is that it replace a big helicopter for the same results.
It can be used by advertisers and news agencies can use it to cover traffic, media events (sports, etc) and high-speed freeway chases. Drones cameras are able to get much closer to news events and cover events in smaller areas.
Drones has also influenced security (new way to fight against terrorism) but there is also one inconvenient (as always) is about private life et some people argue that drones are a threat to private life.
Drones are now available for the public for a private use but they have to follow strict rules.
Anyway, Drones influence a lot commerce and surveillance in the media and in our genera environment and there is still a huge potential to earn from these products.

Drones!!!
“Drones are widely perceived as complex technical systems employing professional infrastructures, cutting-edge engineering knowledge, and vast financial resources. Military systems such as the Reaper, the Predator, or the Global Hawk convey the popular iconic images of UAS technology. Where then does the chocolate copter fit amongst these images? “, Maximilian Jablonowski asks in, Culture Machine Vol 16, 2015. I will tell you where, drones! Drones are used for a number of reasons whether it be for espionage, package delivery such as, Amazon AirPrime or for military and intelligence agencies for multiple use. Drone sightings have significantly increased over the past few years due to advances in today’s much innovative field of technology. Drones are influencing commerce and surveillance even in the media. “We are living, increasingly, in a drone-saturated world…Current drones vary widely in a ordability, accessibility, and capabil- ity – from inexpensive, commercially available systems own by short-range joystick controls to multimillion-dollar, high-end military-grade systems that require substantial training and infrastructure to operate”, states Kelley Sayler. Therefore, the very fact that it is affordable and easy to operate media corporations both start-ups and multi-million dollar industries can use them to increase revenue for their businesses. Drones can be sent all over the world, and can be controlled easily thus, companies can use them to distribute goods and can use them to survey and surveillance what is going on regionally for even news media, via streaming broadcasts. Also, companies can use these drones to detect and monitor security systems and also fix them.

Drones and Humans
Clearly, war drones come with lots of legislation and care to harm those the government believes deserves to be harmed, and not harm Americans. Ironically, what is happening in America is Americans harming Americans with drones of a lesser magnitude. Drones used for photography and filming (or hobbyist drones) are impeding on peoples’ privacy and serve as a distraction to the areas that are flown over. Though there are multiple standpoints on the conversation of drones and their place in media and privacy, I believe there needs to be more and more protection for people who do not want to be filmed or spied on by drones. The idea of a drone flying up to the window of my apartment that I have no drapes for, and recording the layout of my living room (and perhaps the living beings inside the apartment) makes me feel uneasy and violated without any consent. Just know, if you take a video or picture of me with a drone without permission, you’ll be seeing me in civil court.

Drones
Unmanned aerial vehicle or drones are in the transition from military use to hobbyist use, with the danger of invasion of privacy (personal and government), hackers, and terrorism with these gadgets in ordinary hands. “they deal with legal issues, creativity and aesthetics, power, ” Maximilian Jablonowski said. It’s a shame too, as a recent post mentioned how drones are used for entertainment purposes such as youtube videos. I enjoy watching content from an aerial view where I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to see before.
Lets not see just the negative that drones can bring. ” it is also possible that an adversary could deploy swarming attacks of inexpensive, expendable drones against U.S. ships and bases.” Kelley Sayler said. Drones can be used for cinematography and video shoots, for journalism, for real estate photography, and even farming. To have a drone fly over many acres and record everything will speed up the process tremendously. For military use, the use of drones can save a pilot from a mission that can cause him or her their lives. The government can use drones with safety precautions for firefighters, a drone can be used to see where the fire is at it’s most dangerous and see where they can approach the fire.
The potential growth for drones are huge, not just for consumers but also in military and commercial use as well.

Drones are a rather new technology that’s changing the game with drones influencing commerce and surveillance in the media. Drones are capable of doing things and taking pictures that a human just simply cannot do from angles to speed.” Drones are widely perceived as complex technical systems employing professional infrastructures, cutting-edge engineering knowledge, and vast financial resources. With the convergence within technology getting things delivered quickly and conveniently is all people care about these days. “As drones become increasingly accessible and affordable, it will be essential for policymakers to consider the full range of drone capabilities and their potential impact on military operations and international security” Drones can also be used for terrorism or unlawful spying on another person, that’s why it imperative that there be laws and policy’s in place to protect the safety of the people. These laws and policies will influence the way people use drones and what they use them for. There are drones available for the public that vary in price and standard, drones for the government. Even with laws and policies in place “, given the construction material, small size, and flight altitude of most hobbyist systems, they are rarely visible on radar and are therefore particularly difficult to detect”. This is a problem for the safely of the people.
“Security is often an afterthought. The value of our work is in showing that the technology in these drones is highly vulnerable to hackers.”
The capabilities in comparison to the limitations with the commercial drones is changing the way things get delivered commercially, these are stronger and more durable drones. Amazon even gave convenience to their customer by offering them Prime Air. “In the German-speaking media landscape Amazon’s media stunt Prime Air can be considered as the first discursive event of civil drone use and the starting point of this shift in media perception”

Drones
To be quiet honest, drones was something I’ve seen and have known about but didn’t know the name of. So when it was first bought to our attention in class I was a bit dumbfounded. As the class went on of course, what a drone was and does definitely became much clearer. In my opinion, drone have a special kind of fame because everyone has their own way of referring to a drone. Some examples of this is killer drone, attack drones, spy drones and one of the most famous would be surveillance drones which is one of the main points of a drone. Drones are small flying aircrafts that can be controlled by a remote control or even a computer. Some of the benefits of a drone are saving military lives, its considered inexpensive compared to many other gadgets, they’re also low risk being that they are so small, doesn’t always need to be controlled by a human to operate and also spying. As for the disadvantages, it can invade privacy. YES, it is used to check up and keep up on individuals but no one wants to be under surveillance at all times. As previously states, they can be controlled even without a human sitting behind the computer or even holding the remote. They can be programed for a certain time frame.

Make it known… the Drone? Don’t… your zone, can get blown.
DRONE SIGHTINGS! To all you people who own drones, record and post on YouTube, video sites… You have some incredible footage and an awesome tool that I wish I owned! It has a price that I am not willing to pay for because I have other priorities but I am a big fan of new perspectives and shots from all different angles it provides. The value and interests of Drones have increased in the coming years for the world. Drones have opened up the eyes of many to give great aerial perspective shots. Power to the people using them to retrieve and create footage. Drones not only provides an enjoyment of footage but also serves as a tool for governmental business to spy on our potential enemies and give notice to problems all around the world from a distance. Lives are valuable… Violence to lives can be avoided as these drones would be able to spy instead of the lives of any humans. Drones are a scary tool as it has access and the ability to move fast, sly, and pierce security. Also some toxic, violent, explosives can be strapped to the tool as well so I feel like drones should be limited to only certified professionals. It should not be provided or up for sale to about anyone. As a person has the right to buy a gun and bullets… I feel drones should go up for the same process in purchasing a gun. Although I would like to own one for myself, I do not like that fact that it can be used as a weapon and pierce our security or be in range of our government officials to do them harm. Its a dangerous toy and can be modified to be used to do harmful things.
