How is Digital Media changing the music industry?
The music industry has grown in the recent coming years through the advancements of digital media. Digital media plays all sorts of pros towards music exposure and discovery. Music industries of all genres and companies now have a platform in where their pieces can be available and viewed by a larger community.
In the article of New York Times Online, entitled “Apple to Pay $3 Billion to Buy Beats” by Brian X. Chen, it explains how prosperous the company Beats has came about and explains further how another large company apple came in agreement to buy out Beats. Beats, created by producer Dr. Dre, were already doing well for what it was before the company Apple bought out. In my opinion, Apple made an intelligent choice in buying Beats because Apple products and Beats quality sound play hand and hand towards each other. Dr. Dre made one of the largest deals ever as Apple dropped 3 billion dollars to purchase beats. Also it was noted in the article that most of the money for the deal was given in cash… 2.6billion (That’s a sh*t ton of MONEY.)!
In the other article, “Apple Music may not steal you from Spotify, but it can still win the streaming battle” by Jacob Kastrenakes, it mentions how apple has created a knew option where users can stream music. There are other applications like spotify and Pandora where users can stream music. Apple receives a huge advantage as users do not have to download extra applications because Apple will now have all features within one section of the phone.
This whole situation reminds me of a quote, “Pressure can either bust pipes or make diamonds.” I believe this quote means in relation to the articles we just read, that people or companies can go either way… As the world changes, if the company, product, or person is good enough, there work and function will show for itself. Pressure can get to anyone and it is up to whomever is up for the challenge to either settle for where they are or make adjustments or changes to where they can determine their destiny.
