One would think that television would never go out of style as its a form of unwhinning and being able to relax on your couch while watching your favorite shows. With the applications coming forth now in new technology, less people are watching television and are now streaming there new shows on their phones. One example of an app that has taken over television is Netflix. Netflix has the availability of having all of the episodes from each show available to watch. Which is beneficial to those who hate waiting a whole week just to watch one additional episode. One the contrary, it would kill the suspense of those who like waiting a week and guessing that events would happen in the next episode. Another reason why television is going out of style is because a lot of tgw popular channels, such as HBO, have their own apps where you can subscribe to them and watch the shows without having to sit in front of a TV. For a lot of us, this form of watching tv shows works because we have become more addicted to our phones than anything else. Based on the article on The Future of TV isnt Apps , ” imagine each channel was its own app- mayne a dream scenerio for a network hoping to have direct relationship with their viewers.” Many channels wish to be more connected to their viewers on a more personal levels as they will be able to attract more viewers and therefore have a higher rating. The most important reason why app will soon be taking over television is because a lot of consumers cannot afford cable anymore. Cable has become extremely expensive and downloading apps on their phones is much cheaper and much more convenient than paying $150 for a whole bunch of channels one does not even need.

Film and Digital Television
Film and digital television is something that is going to be the future of television. It started with Netflix and how they have movies and shows that are shown on TV as well. Now most people don’t watch cable television because most of what they want to see is on Netflix. The article talks about how cable television is dying out because of streaming devices like Roku , Amazon fire and Apple TV. I think in the future these will be the main way for people to watch television. There will be no need for cable anymore. Cable is very expensive and is still old school in a sense. The new era is where everything is digital and easier access. These streaming devices take away the cable companies because they are cheaper and easier to access. I haven’t converted yet to a streaming device yet but when I get my own house, I definitely will use them. Plus everybody doesn’t watch everything so if I can get the channels of the shows I do watch, I am perfectly fine with that. The article talks about how the author uses these streaming devices and he enjoys using them. I think it’s a better way and more economical to use than time Warner cable or direct TV. I still believe that some people will still use cable because they’re lazy or don’t really like digital television. I think more of the younger generation will enjoy it more and use it more.

Will Libraries and Books Survive another 20yrs?
With the rise of digital media and the new changes with our modern society I severely doubt that libraries, books, and print will survive another 20 years. With options such as Google Books, Apple Library, Kindle, and downloadable files that all us to access full books online there is no way that print can continue to stand. On college campuses, and within few neighborhoods perhaps there may be some libraries still standing but, I can see many of them being closed by government because of the new move of society. People don’t go to the library as much as they use to anymore because they can read all the books that they like, even sample books from the comfort of their own homes. “Much of the novel’s alleged power is embedded in the line, that compulsory author-directed movement from beginning of a sentence to it’s period”, there will always be those who do enjoy print over digital but I am convinced that digital will eventually takeover. People who read the newspapers can easily access news articles with the download of a news app and don’t have to pay for it either. For example people such as myself who have iPhone devices can choose our favorite news sites and when new events happen or when their is breaking news we don’t even have to turn on our TV because the alerts will come up directly to our cell phone deices which is a million times easier than waiting to see the developments on the 10PM news or waiting for the newspaper the next morning. People aren’t buying newspaper articles instead they are buying online news subscriptions. In Flood’s article it talks about Terry Deary’s comments on how libraries are irrelevant, ” Libraries have been around too long and are no longer relevant”.

Is TV all about apps?
Television as we know has changed the perception of the world. It has provided a platform for many innovators to look into the future to help TV Progress and advance. Applications are one of the few advanced additions inventors and innovators have thought of. It is interesting to see how far convenience and efficiency applications have bridged for the community. The connection of applications to TV has progressed the true enjoyment and convenience of the people. In the articles “The Future Of TV Is Here. Can Cable Survive?” and the article “The Future of TV Isn’t Apps. We Need All Our Channels in One Place” we can extract that the people are looking for the simplest ways to watch TV as well as incorporating new ideas that Television innovators have for the people. With ridiculous selection of channels, cable has opened to a wide selection of movies for viewers. I believe cable will survive do to its constant popularity around the nation. Even though, there are a lot of free ways to access favorite shows like streaming… cable provides a more traditional set where it is most convenient and user friendly to the young and old. I personally do not watch a lot of TV. I watch mostly YouTube, HBO, Netflix, and stream fights to save money from paper view. The future is here but I wonder where the next wave of improved upon features will take Television? The world may never know until it is time… Looking forward to it, especially for sports since they now have the technology of 360-degree action replays. This invention and innovation has opened a whole new useful world to all athletes, as they are able to take a look into what it really makes athletes highly admired.

The Effects of Media Culture!
” Engaging in various forms of social media is a routine activity that research has shown to benefit children and adolescents by enhancing communication, social connection, and even technical skills”, according to the article from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Many people argue and debate on whether or not media culture has bettered or worsened society in specific the next generation. I am convinced that media has overall bettered our society. We are able now to get easy access to whatever it is that we desire to know whether or not it be learning new vocabulary, taking up a new language, learning a trade, or taking course’s online for school, technology has helped us to accomplish this. We are more knowledgeable now than we were before as a society. I agree that engagement in social media does advance our technical skills, and communication because it prepares our next generation for the new jobs to come because of technology, it helps us to be innovative, creative, and well-versed on a whole. Some people dispute and say that because of the new technology our children are actually becoming less social and I can see why they could argue that. For example, when I’m in a restaurant families are not engaging in verbal dialogue now everyone is at the table waiting for their food and are looking to see who liked their posts on Facebook or reading there twitter feeds. But, with every new technology there will be positives and negatives but I believe that media promotes more positive change for society on a whole.

Is TV all about APPS?
“The family television used to be the centerpiece of every living room…Now, every screen in the house-traditional sets, tablets and mobile phones-can access top notch programming”. Watching TV used to be a family event everyone would gather around and have bonding time. Time shave changed so quickly and so drastically. According to Greg Satell, the future is here, he believes that the future of TV is now here with these different apps and streaming devices on the rise. I can agree with this most indubitably but I sincerely doubt that television is going to be all about Apps. With streaming, and several different media outlets devices up and coming on the rise yes it is true that we have become more of a microwave society. We do want to have easy access to our favorite series, with little to no commercials, and of course with convenience however, devices such as the Apple TV and RoKu are not as popular yet in society to say.”Consumers don’t care where or how they get their content…They want an integrated, easy-to-use system to get their content”, according to Myers article. I feel that cable will be around here much longer than we think because cable companies I don’t believe are gonna give up so quickly. I believe that eventually cable companies will uses a different method for the consumers connectivity and access to the channels they own, I think they might eventually charge streaming services extra in order to hold control or do a merger with them perhaps.

Film and Digital Television : Is TV all about apps ?
YAHIAOUI Youssef
September 27th, 2016
The first time Apple launched its application, it was on January 2007 (1st generation). Is the Apple TV and other apps is the future of television?
I have read that Steve Jobs always said that he “wanted to do for television what he had done for computers, music players and phones: make them elegant”.
The latest version of Apple TV aspires nothing less than to change the TV. Steve job was sure that “The future of television, it is the applications”
Over its previous evolutions since its release in late 2006, the Apple TV has made a place in the sun (20 million sold) in the highly competitive market of boxes and connected multimedia package.
The latest version, released in 2012, provided access to a catalog of videos on demand and the ability to stream files stored on your Mac, iPad and iCloud quickly.
The Apple TV is primarily used to watch movies and series. It masters the iTunes catalog house and the applications and services based on the video as Netflix, Canal Play, Arte, DailyMotion Vimeo or YouTube which is one of the best advantages. Basically the biggest advantages of apps are all about contents! They provide lot of stuff for cheaper compare to TV.
It also lets you listen to music through the service Apple Music or Mixcloud.
In total, the application store has a hundred apps.
But for me and thanks to my experiences at home etc I partially agree with Gary Myer when he says that “Consumers don’t care where or how they get their content. They want an integrated, easy-to-use system to get their content.” And about the fact that “The Future of TV Isn’t Apps. We Need All Our Channels in One Place”.
I think that people are lazy (like my father) and if apps could be the future it will be in fifty/hundred year (the time people forget about TV) but, without being the future of television, this new version of Apple TV corrects the defects of previous models and became a multimedia platform in itself. So it might augurs a promising future but in a distant future.

(No title)
Television and Radio aren’t what they use to be all thanks to apps. I remember when i was younger cable subscriptions were a must in order to watch and enjoy your shows at a time that may have not been so convenient. From my experience i had to stop what i was doing because my favorite show at the time was about to come in. It sucked because i had to stay for a complete hour and watch annoying commercials. Ever since the invention of apps i can watch it when ever, where ever, Apps have made TV more accessible for less money and actually enjoy my favorite series. An example is Netflix, which offer us TV shows and other things to watch whenever. Television can also be accessed from your gaming system but of course you have to download apps to access it. Another thing that Ive noticed is even cable services are providing there clients with an app so that they can control the TV from anywhere and provide the same thing a TV would but on the phone. Apps have not only changed Television they have also changed the way we listen to music, Apps have also changed the way we live offering lifestyle apps, Also the way we play video games. In my opinion apps have made our crazy lifestyle more comfortable and convenient.

It’s All About The Apps!
Whether it’s music, games, or television, apps is what keeps what we want, when we want, at the palm of our hands.
Gone are the days where we wait for the tv guide to be mailed to the house, gone are the days where one person controlled the remote. Today, we all control the remote. With steaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, plus with the addition of smart phones and tablets make watching our favorite shows or movies much more convenient.
In my apartment, there’s 4 rooms including the living-room, and only one cable box. That box is only here because it brings down the monthly fios bill. There’s no need for cable boxes anymore.
“That makes the traditional cable box somewhat of an anachronism. We don’t actually need it,” Greg Satell, Forbes said.
Both articles talk about tv apps and where it stands in today’s world. On one hand the Forbes article, talks about the simplicity of having Netflix and Hulu to watch your shows and the like. But also talks about how subscription base programs such as HBO GO and Showtime are now allowing consumers to cut the middle man out “cable” and pay a monthly fee to view their own products.
The wired article talks about what the future should be with non existent cable companies, where there will be online cloud services to provide content for consumers at a monthly rate. This article came out in 2014 and it’s amazing how accurate that article is today. With subscription based programs like Sling offering package programs at a monthly cost which is extremely lower than cable.
With streaming services and paid subscription packages looking like the future of television, it’ll be interesting to see how cable companies will adapt to the changes. One thing they have control over are the internet in the homes of the consumers. Without internet, there will be no easy accessible access to Netflix or Hulu or even HBO GO. The ball is on cables court and time is winding down.

APPS OR TELEVISION
According to the two articles I read, television and cable subscriptions are becoming old media. Technology has advanced so much to where cable subscriptions are not in demand anymore. Netflix and Hulu are some examples of the new media platforms in which television is viewed. According to the Forbes article there are certain preferred shows on Netflix that don’t come on television period or anymore. It’s a cheaper investment compared to cable prices, where you have less control. Netflix and other services like it, gives the subscriber a choice of what they what when they want it. Me personally I have cable but I never seem to watch I, either I’m watching Netflix on my tablet, phone or my laptop. You probably wouldn’t notice your cable if you download the right Apps. such as MTV, Watch ABC, CBS, Crackle, are some of the few FREE Apps. you can download. These Apps. makes streaming movies and your favorite shows quick and easy. Xboxes and smart TV’s allow you to connect to the Internet from the television set. Smart TV’s are sometimes referred to as connected TV’s or hybrid TV’s, is a television set or set-top box with integrated Internet and interactive “Web 2.0” features. It’s all about convenience and saving a dollar in this day and age. SO Is the future of TV all about apps? I say it’s already all about apps, more and more people are realizing that cable is a rip off. Now it’s all about digital television digital media.
