Clearly, war drones come with lots of legislation and care to harm those the government believes deserves to be harmed, and not harm Americans. Ironically, what is happening in America is Americans harming Americans with drones of a lesser magnitude. Drones used for photography and filming (or hobbyist drones) are impeding on peoples’ privacy and serve as a distraction to the areas that are flown over. Though there are multiple standpoints on the conversation of drones and their place in media and privacy, I believe there needs to be more and more protection for people who do not want to be filmed or spied on by drones. The idea of a drone flying up to the window of my apartment that I have no drapes for, and recording the layout of my living room (and perhaps the living beings inside the apartment) makes me feel uneasy and violated without any consent. Just know, if you take a video or picture of me with a drone without permission, you’ll be seeing me in civil court.
