Is everyone online? what does it mean to be online?
I can remember online social network introduced itself to me around the age of 15, was when I signed up for “High5” which was reported to be the 2nd largest network platform after “Myspace” by 2007. Back then was not as intense as now, It was generally a place to showcase personalization and creativity, chat with classmates after school, and post an occasional photo or two. Social media today have consumed us fully where we post any and everything giving full access of our personal life to the public eye. Which turns out to be beneficial to some and to others not so much, be online has its advantages and disadvantages. for example; if your an artist and would like to showcase your work, it’s a efficient way of getting your pieces out to public. while on the other hand you post inappropriate content while apply for a professional job can interfere with the hiring process for the employer can judge you by what you post and decide your not fit for the position. One also have to be careful of the words they chose to post; according to the article ” How social media has changed us” Although it is getting harder to shield your identity anonymity has been a key piece of the internet since earlier day”. Which is the type of behavior which makes it less enjoyable to be online because to have saying something unpleasant but not having the balls to let others know you were the one typing. Personally I feel social media is a channel to get away in, learn about different cultures, meet different people, see how other use the media to meet their dreams etc…
