How has the Music Industry changed with digital media?

The music industry has changed a lot with digital media. Now the music comes out a lot faster and it’s coming from all directions every single day. When I was growing up you can get any song for free by download. Now with the streaming networks like apple music and Tidal, the music is harder to download. More of the bigger artists are being protective over their music. For example in April the artist Drake released his album “Views”. Everybody was waiting until the day it was released to listen to the album. This means that nobody was able to download it for free before it was released. This is very different from my childhood, where I can get an album weeks before it was released for free. The second article talks about how Tidal set up their company with artists so that they can hold equity within the company. This is great because these artists put their heart and soul into their music and they should make more income off their music. What you see now is a lot of artists living off concert income instead of their music because people are getting it for free. I think digital media is better for the artists because the fans can get their music through their phone’s and tablets. The physical copy of an album is gone. Now you can get everything digitally, which is great for the artists. The music industry is in a better place because now they can protect their music digitally.
